OMG
haha first time ever alicia does laundry is today. She decides its time. So she lugs her laundry bag downstairs, swipes her card, starts up a machine, manages to put the liquid detergent into the bleach section, so she has to put more detergent into the detergent department. She gets laughed at by other people doing laundry, who she pleads with for help. They help. Though aren't of much help! All end up on the floor laughing. She slinks back up, hoping against all odds that the machine doesnt overflow!!
And yes, she is so ashamed, she is actually referring to herself in the 3rd person. OMG.
***
Ok, this just in, she managed to screw up the drying as well. A guy had to help her. It was so embarrassing. She managed to swipe the card and press the wrong thing in the wrong machine. OMG. Laundry is sooo not her specialty!!!
***
Latest on the Laudry Channel, Alicia has managed to shrink all the clothes she put into the dryer. Oh maaan...
Heh. I. Love. Cornell.
*grin* been coming home around 3-ish in the morning every day..from my suite mates, our "collegetown" parties, pizza fests, drag show(Ru Paul came to Cornell..omg..what type of EDUCATIONAL institution is this?!haha)to the We Might Be Giants concert - the guys who sang the theme song for Malcolm in the Middle, to Mall shopping with Amber, Meg and Siu Mey(hilarious!) to yaa-yaa to casino night to the hypnotist to everything one could imagine.
Today was bloody hilarious. Woke up from a damn shit late night/early morning the night before and we went to the mall. Which was bloody great - i love the mall! Bought a lovely baby T..yeah im really into baby Ts now btw..and a damn nice belt~ Whee.. Being Meg's birthday, we decided to bring her out to a nice dinner. So Amber, Brian, Rishi, Siu Mey, Roger, Meg and i decided on Thai food..which throughout the night became from Thai to Vietnamese to Mexican to Fusion to Pizza to goodness knows what! And in the end we go to this place Rishi decides we shall go. So he leads us there and we have a great meal and only after the entire meal and when we leave the place go back to our dorms, do we realize its vegetarian!! OMG as Roger would say..Oh My God. But it was fun! Laughed a lot about rubbish and we made Meg put on this moosehead..sooo funny (will put up the pic when she sends them)
We got rained upon of course. Yeah, we say when Meg, Siu Mey and i r together, we get all the bad shit happen to us.. but its soo freaking funny! And our "yaaa-yaaa" tt meg is convinced she picked up only when she met Singaporeans - Brian, Rishi and i have decided she's making this up btw. And the same cab driver who drove us to dinner actually picked us up again after dinner, which was so cool. Especially coz Siu Mey had left her umbrella cover in the cab the first time. The cabs here fit 7 btw, so it was just nice.
After dinner we went to this Frat Party on 600 university ave..n we walked and walked and walked and i was sooo determined to find it coz we wanted to "break" the "bad luck" the 3 of us have when we're toget. We found it in the end!!! *grin*
And on the way back, we went by the suspension bridge(the one useless Roger and maybe a little bit of Ming, couldnt find yesterday). And it was so dark and creepy and stupid Brian scared the shit out of me by counting the "6th" person when there were only 5 of us. Brrr!!
Have lots of stuff to tell everyone. Will try and blog on a more regular basis. Love you guys!! Seriously love my 2 bears..hug them every day and night. :)
And oh, im sooo over IT. haha.. sorry for those who heard me whine.. and yeah, fine, Josh you were right, it didnt last long.
OMG!! haha.. for all of u in the know, im so obsessed. Haha. Well, yeah. U ppl shld know what im talking abt.. hint hint good teeth, great forearms.. haha..anyway, im so new to this tt i was running ard asking for opinions and stuff..i think everyone thinks im freaky now.. haha... but i did it finally. Whee.. still have the "buzz"!! haha.. my dorm mates crowded into my room to witness the "big send off". Haha..omg..omg..i don't even know what to do now.. haha If i cant steal this from Fartzzy, its all sort of
rampant mumbling now... but u ppl know what im talking abt.. its the buzz frm the whole thing..
Anyway feel guilty now. U know why..im going talk to him right now! But to tell or not to tell that is the question.. wld the truth be good or bad? Does the truth hurt more than it should? But how abt conviniently leaving out stuff?
Shit..i feel lk such a pig..i keep dropping apple chips on my dorm floor all over myself because im so excited i cant eat properly but im really hungry! Whee..!
Tralalaaa guess who's happy? Heh. Met my dorm maates today..oh yes, im still at the Statler tho' i said i was moving into the dorms tonight..and they all seem real nice and more importantly, fun! I'm the only Asian Asian(as in not born and raised in America type)on my level so that's pretty interesting. 3 of us girls even managed to get invited to a frat party by a senior! (But we didnt go coz we're good girls) haha But my OL(orientation leader) is this guy who's so cute coz he kept telling us girls to be careful be careful be careful, don't drink what they give you, be careful and he looked so totally worried for us. Coz apparently orientation is sup to be the time where the parties by the "upperclassmen" ie the seniors are very wild and hectic. May go to one tmw just to find out what it is. (Please no one tell Michael abt this!) Haha There was supposed to be a huge carnival but it rained and poured and everyone got wet but everyone was happy.
To answer joanie's and a lot of ur questions, yes, there definitely are a lot of good looking guys here. Definitely more so than Singapore(DUH). AWww IN GENERAL OK? No one's better looking than our very own local boys Michael(of bloody course!) and Seaaanieepoooopooo! *grin* Sean, u so owe me big time!
Thanks for all the psychotic emails frm all u guys. Esp. love the bigass e-turtle thingy Josh sent(yeah, now its personal!) and Tammy's renditiony caricature of everyone. And great thanks to Jem for his lovely lovely lovely stuff he sent to me. He's the first actual person(apart frm all the university stuff etc) who's sent me mail!! Oh and prob because he's the only one i told my mailing address to. Been meaning to tell all of yall, so here it is:
Cornell University
Court Residence Hall #224B,
ITHACA, NY, 14853
Cheerios all,
and great thanks Josh for all the mediation and updates and all that stuff, u're the best! The soririty of the chuckchuck still holds true~ :)
im so tickled! My friend just convinced me to go take a Chinese placement test on Monday. Now, as you all know, ALTHOUGH my Chinese is bloody SUPERB(its zhao ju time! and yang lao shi's daily remedials - boohoohoo, my recesses!), i err, well, erm, uhh, mumbledunmumblereally mumblethink mumbleimumble canevenmumble remembermumble howto mumblemumblewritemynameinchinese mumblemumblemumble...heehee but im so tickled! Apparently they have this notion that Singaporean students are immensely strong in Chinese so they mark very strictly too. Ha ha. They obviously havent met me. Wahaha. Oops..got to run now. I'm still mighty tickled. Tomorrow i think i shall venture to stay in the dorm. My first night in my dorm! Will see how it goes. For now, its still hotel comfort!
Ahhh today i moved into my dorm room..ok fine, i didnt tenichally move but as in i got to see it(im still staying at the Statler, Cornell's own hotel..heh heh...room service, big bed, bath robes, etc!) and i almost died!! Ok wait..first things first..new york city is great! Its truly the city tt never sleeps..shopped shopped shopped - went to Barney's, Macy's(the biggest department store in the world btw, of no less than 9 floors), Bloomingdale's etc etc etc, ate ate ate(yummy yummy yummy) and watched a musical called the Producers (funny!) We even sat in a trishaw if u can believe it! Coz we couldnt be bothered to wait for a cab- it was raining, long story.
Anyway, flew from Laguadia airport to Ithaca airport in this really really really tiny plane - it sat literally abt 20 ppl including the pilot and co-pilot!! And i swear i thought i was going to die. The turbulance was HORRIFIC!!! And my mom actually threw up. Brrr..there was one pt that i was thrown against the window and the guy sitting next to me had to ask me if i was alright. O-M-G-T-M-D! Haha anyway, that was yesterday.
Today met a lot of international students(we're all here for PREPARE, this internat students' orientation before the real orientation) and everyone's really nice and fun. Took a few pics(this guy's camera so he's gonna send it to me so i'll put it up when i get it) So anyway, abt my dorm room, its the newest dorm, Court hall, so it has cable television, aircon etc n its sup to be of a decent size..i got a single btw..hooray!..but when i saw the size of it, i was sooo saaaaadd!! Then my parents(the express cleaning service! heh) n i sorta did some spring cleaning and now its quite liveable! shall take some shots of it if i can remember. The dorm building itself is really nice.
Exhausted now, but shall blog again soon. The Cornell campus is truly gorgeous. I'm really glad i came here. Have fun everyone! And someone(yes, u josh) help me check up on Michael once in a while..keep the boy in check ya know..heh :)
Yaay! i finally managed to get into my silly blog! Anyway, i found out that the Cornell Club (more on this later) has a computor room with internet access and all! Which is why, i, the internet freak, am here blogging. Oh man, Manhatten shopping is amazing! I internet sms-ed Beeboo just now to tell her if Weizhi, herself and i were here together shopping, we'd be more than unusually bankrupt, in oh about 10 minutes! Luckily, my parents - yes that's what they're here for - are with me! haha
The plane ride was interminably long - especially coz every 2 seconds i was sniffling and blowing my nose. It was terrible! Hugged Jere
mike(wishing it was the real thing) the entire way and watched about 6 movies. Ate like a pig - airline food isn't that bad what. Landed around 7 New York time and had my first encounter with one of the psychotic "New York Cab drivers".
Arrived at the Cornell Club (isn't it great that they have their own hotel/club?! Its got everything..a gym, restaurant, etc ect!) last night around 9. And i was once again reaquainted with my one true love - American Television. Granted most of the programmes are re-runs or crap, there's always something on! Over a hundred channels, its simply like putting a kid in a candy store! Or me in a clothes shop! My parents went for dinner while i sloshed around my room - we got these rooms that are sort of in a private wing i.e. a door opens and then there are 2 rooms, 1 to the right(mine) and one to the left(my parents!) - and they brought me back sushi. yum! Lay around in bed (of course after i bathed!) and ate sushi and watched Celebrity Poker Showdown. Fell asleep(of course after i had brushed my teeth!) soon after - dammit, i wonder who won... Then today went to the Met.(the metropolitan museum of art)- interesting place if u're into art and all that - had a quaint lunch there, and then to Bloomingdale's for shopping! Never seen so many jeans in one room before. Coach, Burberry, Louis Vuitton, Miu Miu, DKNY etc etc everywhere you turn - its a girl's paradise!! Then off to this nice little pastry shop called Payard's for tea (with my father, one never hopes to get thin) and then my mom decided her heels were killing her and we went back to the hotel for her to change shoes. Fell asleep once i threw myself on my bed and then it was time for dinner. Went to the Osyter bar at the New York Grand Central Station(the place where a lot of movies scenes are shot!). Later, my dad wants to go to the Comedy Club.
All in all, Manhatten's shaping out quite nicely. Leaving for Ithaca on Sunday...Cornell awaits!
Its around 1.58 am and im leaving for the airport in approximately 7-ish hours tomorrow and my room resembles nothing less than the remains of a hurricane-thunder-storm. I'm so screwed! i know i should have packed earlier..and i still havent done my silly Kafka essay. (Sorry for not heeding your advice Jem) Yet, in my state of disarray, i know i must blog one last time before i start my new life abroad. I know its silly and that i'll be back for Christmas, but i'm still gonna miss everyone.
The tooties/ohana photos are up(under links) and i absolutely love the darling bear they gave me! I promise to hug it to sleep..and have called it Hou Zhi(Monkey)! My toots - Sheryl, Seng, Kaixuan, Joanie, Cherie, Shinglei, Fangdom(of the opera) and Rainie - gonna miss our ridiculous madcap gatherings, our cheating mahjong sessions, our manicures and bowling and badminton and riding in death cars - esp when Sengison Chen is behind the wheel with her gloved hands!
Of course my dearest dearest Weizhi, Beeboo and Zihua! Our Fish and Co extravaganzas, our rubbish, our shopping, our mahjong, our national day flag, our 95% fat free ice cream, our 'mummymummymummy, auntieeauntiee, ahhmaaa' while hua is ordering 62410241! etc etc etc etc Love you gals so!

Today, my "last day" in Singapore, was most eventful. Met my girls for lunch at Jurong Pt's Fish and Co, (leading to my brother asking, What the hell were u doing at Jurong Pt?!) then Seng went to come chap in! I love my Seng, look at what she did..
Met Sean for a while after - jus sat in his car and did nothing but talk and laugh for ages and at one pt i thought he was trying to commit suicide and take me with him! (Death by car fumes..) Then home to pack. Followed closely by dinner with the family at our "friendly indian restaurant" opposite my popo's hse - love the naan!
My popo and i outside the restaurant - if u look closely enough, u can see "Indian Cusine" written behind! So yummy!
Im so tired.. shall upload all the rest of the photos on imagestation and put em under links soon. Anyway, decided that today i would take public transport - as in proper public transport ie bus and mrt instead of cabs - so i could experience Singapore the way most people do. I wanted to wait for my bus 92 once more, but as "luck" would have it, my mom sent me to the mrt station then Sean drove me back from Clementi. Ah well, bus 92 will have to wait.
After dinner, Michael happened. Still feel rather heady from the whole thing. I know im to blame for most insipid silly turns and i have problems ..but im happy again. Non-stop sms-es, phone calls, msn-ing and a bit of frenzied packing later, im ready to drop. But, as Turtle said, "who asked you to pack so late?". Stupid boy. But he's right. Damn it. And Joshua cracked his final chuckchuck joke while Sean's present will definitely come in handy.
Well its ard 2.45 now and im nowhere nearer to finishing packing, so i'd better scoot. Everyone keep in contact and keep your blogs running so i know what u guys are up to!
Till we meet again,
.Ali.
These few days, have been meeting up with my dearest friends and family non-stop and how ridiculous it is that i, who was the one who all along wanted to go abroad for university, is the one who is now feeling rather ambivalent about going.
Fri i finally met up with Jem for lunch, and it was really nice, albeit with a bit of awkwardness here and there. He left for Princeton on Saturday. It was nice to see him again, and we sat, talking about the past and the future.. and i felt somehow happy and safe. Then Micheal came to pick me up, before i was whisked away to my grandparents' house for a farewell dinner. Escaped a little early and went to Shu's party at the Tanglin Club, and after, we trucked off to this really nice pub behind Rouge - which i never knew existed!
Shu and I at that place behind Rouge.
Here, i really must comment about what some fellow, and i will not mention names, said to me, on the way to Orchard Emerald. He actually had the cheek and the gall to tell me, "Cats are GORGEOUS!" Real men hate cats. All real men do.
Around 1-ish, i took a rather harrowing cab journey to Michael's camp, where he was the Duty Officer again. And its times like this I wish I had a private and full-time photographer or camera man who could take candid shots of us just being us; engraining memories and happiness that can never be forgotten, blurred or erased.

Saturday was shopping day! Dim sum for lunch with the folks, my aunt and popo and then off to shop with my aunt and popo. Shopping is so bloody fun! Later, met Mikey and then Sean and Kerr for drinks and rubbish. Tammy and Corny came over later and we splashed around the pool, and talked about psychotic stuff.

Sunday saw me and my family - my dad forced us all, including my brother, mother, popo and aunt - going to see the fireworks. Had a lovely dinner by the river at one-fullerton (shu's parent's stuant andersons' black angus), where there was much chatter and laughter and not-so-secret-anymore revelations(tsktsk) and then was treated to a massive array of loud crackling smokey fireworks. The only thing was that all of a sudden, a million people seemed to have gathered behind us - men, women, children, old folk, u name it - and were talking loudly and edging their way forward. I'm not one to bitch, but honestly! You pay for a nice dinner so as not to join the damn crowds..but somehow, these people had pushed their way into the arena. I had to glare at a few more eager ones, who were practically pushing my chair. But all in all, a rather eventful evening with many great laughs.

Monday came round and we had our infamous all-day-and-night mahjong at Fartz's! While the last theme was Polo, today, our dearest host made us dress up in National Day colours. Of course, as soon as i heard there were going to be prizes for the best dressed, i knew what i had to do!
Fartz was REALLY the national flag, with her red shirt that went "Singapore Singapore Singapore" and oh-so-white pants to boot.
My ass! - no doubt i won "best dressed" and wonders of all wonders, actually won "earliest to arrive" at that! Well, wonders never cease..
Zihua, the ever gracious host, fattening up her guests with icecream!
Gonna miss this crazy gang like mad.
Laughed like hell when we saw the difference between the big pillow beeboo made me and the small tiny minute shred of the one she made huahua! Zihua trying to act sad, to no avail.
What Beeboo was left with at the end.
What i was left with! Mwahaha.. the big winner! And no wonder i won best dressed!
Searched like hell for Zihua's secret savings..
Could it be hidden in here..
or in here..

Nono, Zihua says, im not telling..
but guess what happened when we opened up the truck!
Of course we ate like hell, courtesy of our most gracious host, the "national flag"..
And watched Singapore Idol - which was bloody hilarious and oh-so-painful at the same time..
The box that had to be stomped upon to get good reception!
Zihua and Beeboo watching Singapore Idol.
And along came 'DUH!
And tomorrow will be the day with the Tooties. *rubs hands in glee* what fun~
Leaving in
2 days!!
Wednesday, my really cool aunt from Los Angeles finally landed in Singapore, bringing with her lots of gifts!(Whee!! Clothes!!! Acessories..Makeup!! Whee!!) Had "bo bia" at my popo's place for lunch, and the 4 of us - my popo, my aunt, my mom and i - had a wonderful ladies luncheon! I really like my aunt a whole bunch.. she's so cool~ *grin* Bummed around holland village for the remaining time before dinner, with ma' chuckchuck king, Turtle, and chuckchuckSHIT, Josh(who really crack me up with all their retarded nonsense)before going back home for dinner with the family. SIGH. Really gonna miss my family dinners!! So much laughter, so much talk, so much rubbish...
Around 11-ish-12, saw me FINALLY going to Zouk's Mambo night!(i know im so toot..) Every time we seem to be going, something or other will happen and we'd end up elsewhere like China Black, Velvet Underground, Liquid Room etc, or worse, going to some stupid thing like Kerr's Bread Party! Though Clare was late, and we had to catwalk at the back of "Grand Shanghai" for ages(don't ask), she was a most wonderful "tour guide". Beeboo and Weizhi and i were thoroughly taken care of. And i must say, that girl can dance!! Had fun shaking booties with her. And this Cornell senior, Meng Aun, managed to recognize me(a true feat due to the flashing lights) as soon as we stepped on the dance floor and we were quickly acquainted with his friends and we all started jamming together. Weizhi, as usual, never ceased to amaze with her blurness! For a while, she actually didn't know he knew me before last night(even tho' i did do the introductions) and she thought these guys just came up to me and started talking and dancing with me.. OMG, BBQ! Would i just start dancing and talking to strangers?! ;p From shouting into one another's ears to be heard, and happily screeching along with the songs, we damn near lost our voices. Mambo night was fun, though i prefer China Black's selection of songs. The songs only sort of got good after 2, but we still had a blast. I'm so happy i got to witness Weizhi and Beeboo's "first time"! We left after the last song(because Clare apparently isn't happy until the last song finishes!) and one of the guys, Kenneth, who's really nice and lives somewhere near me, sent us back in a cab and even paid for us. Weizhi and Beeboo stayed over and we had our gossip session, with a lot of shouting of 'go to the corner'! Finally, Weizhi let us sleep..
Thursday, we woke up around 1pm and then headed to Holland Village for Vietnamese food..which was yummy! As usual, we shared all around, which made it so much nicer. Gonna miss spending time with my girls. As Beeboo said, "its about spending quality time, not quantity", to which, dearest BBQ replied, "how to have quality without quantity?" After Weizhi left, Beeboo and i bummed around Starbucks for a while longer and talked about all the shit we've done together(need to bring BIG towel?!), among
other stuff..heh.
Poor Micheal had to run and lead 24K in full uni this morning (he had to wake up this morning just about the time we returned to my place..poor baby!!). So met him for dinner and then the infamous gang threw me another party - a farewell one this time. Sniff sniff! haha..Gonna miss you all. Tammy, Aaron, Josh, Turtle, Corny, Jude, Daniel, Steph, De Wei, Elf, Daryl, Min De, David, Joel..and Micheal..Thanks you guys.. :) I must say, Daniel has really mastered the art of making good fruit punch with his "little extra on the side"..OMG! Really rubbish, but so totally whack and fun. Losing my voice for real this time, what with all the Talking Trash and Yo Homies' garbage and Jude pulling out his Karaoke Set and WhetherBeaters, Twister and childish childish hilarious things..HUH, Aaron! Slosh slosh!!
YAWN. Gonna collapse on my bed now. *sleepy wave*
6 more days..
As Meanz said, Food is always pretty...
Our lovely bollywood party's delectable yums, taken frm every angle, because i love food! haha..Oh and Jana's The Fish:
Pics of the B-wood party will be uploaded on imagestation and linked at the side coz they're far too many spastic photos!
I'm leaving in 9 days.. and its begining to scare the hell out of me.
Spent the whole of last night(went to sleep at 6am), after the Bollywood party(which was bloody excellent btw! I love my fellow bollywood-ers!!!), printing photos i'm taking along with me to put up in my dorm room.
Here are a few of my favourites which are making it to my dorm wall..or as David would call it, the "Alibaba wall of fame"..
Said my mom to me, "Isn't it about time you started packing?" Said me to her "*whinewhinewhine* Fiiiine.. If you say sooo.." And here i am, not packing, but blogging. I want to go but i don't want to leave!!! I've seriously been getting very sentimental of late, so here goes..

Why are u so bloody nice to me?! i will miss u so much!!
To Beeboo: Haiyah! My xiang gong! The one who is soooo nice to me..sniff sniff..who is so loveable and pretty and self-consoling. My talk until the moon comes up and the sun goes down about everything and anything babe, my best friend, my sounding board, my swooning other half, my little green dinosaur and yum' food-loving mama! My shopping bud and bo-do abt mahjong kaki, my waiting for me outside changing rooms hon! Damn, girl, i'll miss u lk crazy too..
To Sean: Whom i just had lunch with. Thank you. Thank you for everything. Thank you for all your concern. Thank you for being such a great friend, a most wonderful guy, for being my chauffeur, for letting me bully you, for being my 'bitching partner', for letting me talk u into doing "Fgay" things, for staying my friend through thick and thin, for all the little things you've done, for the smiles u've put on my face, for all the laughs we've shared. And most of all, thank you for being you.
